No need to make things any more complicated than necessary. Common sense would indicate that the floor should be reasonable flat. Other than that for camber you're looking for the relationship of the wheel to the surface it's setting on. Zeroing the gage on the surface adjacent to the wheel provides a pretty direct result. The alignment shop's results were within a couple of tenths of mine and after watching how they set their equipment up I'm not sure that I don't trust my figures more then theirs.
