be deleted.
But for those questioning (saves Dean time, and I know there are those afraid to ask)...
R & R - (if not rest and relaxation) refers to remove and replace
VC - refers to valve cover - the "black think" on top of the engine "covering the valves." Yours may read Saab, 2.0, or 2.3. For turbo models, it is what lies "around" the DIC. It can be removed using the torx bolts surrounding/connecting it to the (should be "silver") engine block. There is a gasket that seals the valve cover to the black which should be replaced when removing. It's about a $15-20 part or less.
DIC - refers to direct ignition cassette, and is red on older models (T5) and black on newer ones (T7). One may have, in rare cases, a blue one which is to be used as a tester by dealers/mechanics.
T5/T7 (and now T8?) - refers to "Trionic" which is the engine management system utilized by Saab which among other things manages knock, airflow, etc. T5 is used in NG900s and the 1999 9-3 (not Viggen). T7 is in 2000-2002 (plus all Viggens). I believe, and sorry if I am misinformed, 2003+ 9-3SS uses T8?
Okay, sorry for the acronyms, but hopefully this helps those who are afraid to ask, or have not found the "search" box at the top of ALL BB board pages. Thanks.
Sean
