Back in the 80's I ran with a guy that had a '70 Buick GSX sporting a Stage 1 455 motor with a few Kenny Bell goodies (rich kid, I had a lowly 340 duster). It was viscious. The main problem with those old muscle cars was traction (like the viggen), but the tires we used to use were crap. Stopping was another issue all together. A friend who used to have a '68 GTO now has a really nice '70 Olds 442 convertible with a 455. The Olds motors ran so much cam that they didn't have reliable vacuum at idle for power brakes, so consequently they had to run non-power drums, brilliant! 3800 lbs, 500 ft lbs of torque, braking power of a yugo. He fitted modern power-assisted disc brakes to the 442 that use a vacuum reserve tank so the thing is safer.
