You do have the whole wiring harness to side airbag right under the seat so yes, it is a chance that you disconnected it or pulled a wire out or maybe some or another way got the wire smashed in the tracks?
It difficult to say which one of these scenarios it is (if any).
But you would also think that the mechanic already have checked out all those options and determined that the fault is a wiring harness issue?
Try to lift up the seat as high as the tilt mechanism allow and look under the seat for the wire harness and connector. If something is loose, try to connect it again.
The problem is that you are still in the mercy of a Saab shop with the Tech 2 scanner to reset the codes and turn off the lamp.
In a bad scenario shop, the shop might already have fixed the problem but is waiting for you to ok the repair and then they just reset the light and charge you $700.00?
