Fluid leak. Tranny?

I found a quarter size spot of lubricant on my garage floor yesterday. It's not coolant or washer fluid. If it were motor oil, I'm thinking it would be dark, just like the Mobil 1 5W40 on the dipstick. So, I'm guessing brake fluid or tranny fluid (5-speed, 2002 SE).
I can't get underneath it to get a really good look, but in looking around under the hood, I could see "wet" areas on the lower left side of the engine compartment, toward the firewall. Specifically, I stood at the left front cornering lamp at looked rearward toward the firewall at a 45 degree angle, then downward. There is some type of "bell housing" down there (tranny?) that is wet on the rearward side, plus I noticed a large rubber bushing between that housing and the firewall. That bushing is wet on the front side. The leak aside, the car runs well and always has.
It has 37K miles on it, is off-lease in 60 days, and has been dealer maintained for the past 34 months. I can't imagine this just started overnight, but I'm curious as to how the mechanics could miss it during routine maintenance. Any thoughts on the source of the leak? Thanks!
