1. Make sure the ball of your right foot is on the brake. If you have very wide feet make sure 1/2 of your foot is on the brake but your knee is pointed a little inward (this will keep you from hitting the gas with the other 1/2 of your foot).

2. Clutch in.

3. Downshit (or shift to neutral), leave clutch in.

4. With the clutch still in, if you have wide feet and your knee is pointed inward a little, roll your leg to the right so the other 1/2 of your foot hits the gas and the revs blip up to just a little above where you would normally match revs at your speed. Do this without letting up pressur eon the brake. If your foot is small and you need to whole ball of your foot on the brake, then use your heel to blip the throttle (see why the accelerator pedal is a little longer and hangs lower than the others?) -- hence, "heel-and-toe".

5. Let clutch out if you;re already downshifted (or shift into gear and let clutch out).

6. Revs should match if you did it right, and you never let up braking pressure, and your engine is now still within its powerband without any awkward downshift, engine braking or slippy clutch.

It takes lots of practice. I first learned at the Viggen Flight Academy and have done it periodically in my Viggen and my old 900. It's not the best thing in the world for a throwout bearing, but it's fun to do
