Radio and CD changer for this car are special. The radio and CD changer communicate over a data bus, the I-bus. There is no aftermarket system that uses this system that I am aware of.
Also as part of the anti-theft system, the radio and CD changer have been "married" to your car. This process is done with a scan tool called the Tech II. When this process was done, the radio and CD changer had information about your car stored in non-volital memory of the units.
The units can be used in another car if they are first "divorced" from your car with the Tech II.
If they are removed without been divorced and used in another car, they will not work.
Bottom line is that you will have to replace them both and you will lose the steering wheel controls, SID radio display functions, and phone mute function it you have a integrated phone.
Good luck,
Steve Crowe, Saab Master tech, who speaks for himself and no one else.
