Thanks. That little bit of damage was estimated at $2800. They tried to refinish the rims, but (shocker) they don't match the originals so they need 2 new ones -- $350 each -- so add $700 to that bill.
Its a lot of work for them to get the new door skins to look right. The lightening blue is like black in that you can see flaws fairly easy. $600 seems like a good deal price wise -- most place will charge you $600 to $800 just to paint.
I asked them what it would cost to paint the hood since it has lots of rock chips and a scratch or too from random road debris and it was $800. Forget that...I like my cars to be mint, but the chips and stuff aren't that bad.
If I was in NYC area I would ask Jason 0W40 about that shop on Long Island -- He posted some BMW owners car that got fixed there -- I only wish those guys were working on my car! They looked top notch. I would gladly pay a few extra dollars for superior work.
