Viggen wheels

I just bought a 2000 Viggen with 16" winter tires on. Seller told me the 17" wheels are slightly bent and cause shimmying on highway, so I plan on getting them fixed before putting them on for the summer. Once fixed will they be "like new" or will they now be weaker and more prone to bending again? Should I just buy new stronger rims? Thanks!
