I would definately use the LINE-level signal within the 8-pin din output. I once installed a Fosgate Power 400a4 and had it driving 6.5 Polk components up front and Polk 6x9's in the rear. The one problem that myself and other have found is that the turn-on (remote) wire from the stock head unit doesnt supply enough voltage to power up many aftermarket amps. I believe that some have had luck with Alpine amps however. In the case that you choose to use the remote turn-on from the DIN cable, you might need a Low-Voltage-Trigger to power up, unless you find a true 12v from another source, from the anteanna power for example.

Another issue with the stock head unit is that it doesnt cut audio signal before it cuts power and can produce a "turn off pop" when shutting down. This can be very loud and very hard on your speakers, aside from just looking like an idiot when you have others in your car with you. Stinger sells a TPS OFF to eliminate this, but I have never used one, so no help there. I got tired of the problems with running an amp with the stock head and switched to a Kenwood Excelon, which matches terribly, but sounds good and has tons of adjustability and MP3 playback.

So you dont NEED line level converters, but it might simplify the install if you are aprehensive about soldering RCA outputs to your DIN cable.
