I didn't see a filter but as far as i know most cars don't have one. You just need to clean off the magnet on the drain bolt. I followed the instructions from the genuine saab site, very easy job. Some things to have though, 8mm long handle allan/hex wrench for the drain bolt, pretty had to get to. Also a 8mm allan/hex socket makes getting the fluid check bolt out very easy. I used a funnel and a peice of tubing to fill the case up through the check hole which worked out well as the fill bolt on top is hard to get to. I would suggest jacking up the car and taking both front wheels off for better balance when running the car while its up on jack stands. 2 good jack stands are important too! I'm an ER RN and have seen lots of injuries from people who said "oh that old spare tire rim wil work just fine." Bad idea. e-brake and wheel chalks are a good idea. Good luck.
Here's the link for the procedure you'll see it under #4 transmission
