To me, turn-in feels a lot better and more responsive than before. But my results might not be entirely representative, since I went from exaggerated toe-in (approximately twice factory spec) to zero. So the benefits of slightly "pre-loading" the tires and bushings were probably outweighed in my case by the excessive toe-in and resulting dull steering. Interestingly, I also drove a lot in wet and snow-covered conditions yesterday, and the car is more stable going straight ahead. My theory (theory only) is that previously, depending on which mis-aligned front tire happened to have more traction, the car would pull in that direction.
I'm afraid that doesn't completely answer your question. The limitation in my experience is that I went from an exaggerated toe-in condition to zero, so I can't say how my current set-up would compare to a very slight toe-in. The car drives beautifully now, I can say that - straight, true, and responsive.
