A bit more than a week ago, I replaced the 16 inch wheels on my '03 SE convertible with the double 3 spoke 17 inchers that were optional on that model. I didn't notice that the ride was any rougher. Like Mike says, the 9-3 doesn't ride all that well in the first place. The handling though is much improved, I have much more confidence when cornering now.
This handling though isn't likely entirely due to the wheel change, I also went from high performance all season tires to max performance summer tires and had Anders install a steering rack brace. Anders got the job because I sheared the head off one of the bolts when trying to install it myself last summer. It was a weld a nut on what was left of the bolt, tap the hole and put in an insert job besides slotting the mislocated hole in the steering rack that cause me to mess up the bolt in the first place.
