I think you know my thoughts on tuning cars. My goal is to make the car run as efficient as possible. We might not have the highest hp numbers but our cars will run with less stress on the engine.

Adding a 3" downpipe is great upgrade however your going to boost slightly higher. The reason why your going to boost higher is that there is less back pressure on the turbo. The less back pressure the faster the turbo can spool up. The plus with doing this upgrade is that the exhaust gas temps are reduced allowing the engine to run cooler.

An upgraded intercooler is also a great upgrade because it cools the air going into the engine. The cooler the air the more dense it is and as a result gives you more power. Most who put our intercoolers on report drops in the turbo pressure but an increase in power as a result of the turbo system running more efficiently. The boost controller crowd loves the intercooler because instead of allowing the turbo to work less they increase it to run as they say a beast.

An ECU upgrade will allow the engine to run better due to have a better air/fuel ratio's. On 90% of the 9-3's we see a very high air/fuel ratio which can lead to engine damage. We are also going to start offering a three year unlimited mileage warrenty against engine damage for our ECU products, and will be the only tuner who will offer this. If I was going to add a SMBC onto a T7 car I would just check the air/fuel ratio's prior to installation to ensure everything is within normal limits.
