Not really sure what precertified means. If it was a Certified Previously Owned, it should have gone through a rigorous inspection before being sold.
Having said that, unless the clutch, or other parts, were bad when it was inspected, there is no way I know of to predict failure. Keep in mind that cars (and most other machinery) is made by putting together a whole lot of parts provided by the lowest bidder.
I found that the average life of a clutch was somewhere around 100,000+ plus miles when I was driving, or about teaching one kid how to drive a clutch car (time, not mileage).
Sounds as if the dealer is making a good faith effort to solve your problems, even if their fault diagnosis might leave something to be desired.
Were it mine, I'd probably spend a few bucks and do some things to it before the book calls for it, like being sure to use synthetic engine oil, changing the transmission fluid (again, I'd use synthetic), changing the brake fluid every two years.
As to whether you should get rid of it--that's your decision. Since everything is still covered for another 9 months, and since the value won't go down a whole lot in that time, keeping it seems reasonable.
If you like the car handling, etc, consider that even putting $1000 a year into maintenance is still a lot less that the loss in value when you drive it new (or used) off the lot.
