I'll 2nd that - NGK only Posted by JimBlake [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: spark plug question..., Joseph, Tue, 22 Jun 2004 10:14:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The system uses the spark plugs to detect knocking, instead of having a knock sensor. I guess it's sensitive to which plugs you use. Gotta use NGK.
PFR6H-10 platinum plugs (30k miles)
BCPR6ES-10 copper plugs (10k miles)
If you change the plugs yourself, copper plugs are cheaper. If you pay your mechanic to change them, maybe platinum...
The -10 at the end of plug # is 1.0mm gap. I guess nobody can find BCPR6ES-10 so everyone uses BCPR6ES-11 or -?? whatever, & adjusts the gap to 0.037" or 0.035".
That's for '99 to '02. If you have a 9³SS ('03+) then ???
