Yes, many changes perhaps, but I thought those were in 1997??? (I don't store such things in my head). But perhaps none from a practical point of view. If you want better handling, you still have the same rubber mounted steering rack and blubbery bushings to deal with, and the rear sway bar is still inadequate.
If you can get a 99 with the HOT, that will have the Viggen IC. That would be a better setup to start with from a power modification point of view. And you still have the T5 with that and you can do some very good power mods DIY with a MBC+A. If you have modified a TBTC on a previous model, its the same part and you could move the modified TBTC to the new vehicle. Ditto for a modified air box too and a Saab Sports exhaust system.
What year did the analog clock get dropped? I did like that.
