Q: what is it that makes a SAAB feel so good to drive?

A LITTLE HISTORY:
I’ve been trying to educate myself about whatever it is that is ailing the steering on my beloved ’99 9-3 by posting questions on TSN. You all have given me good answers that I’ve taken to 4 different mechanics over the past 6 months. After almost $2000 in repairs I still have loose steering that vibrates (it is not clunky – no noise, it just has play in the steering wheel -- and a lot of kickback on the wheel when hitting road defects). Oddly, on rare occasions it suddenly returns to normal…. I press the pedal and for a few brief miles I feel connected to the road again…
Alas, I’m about to give up… I’m thinking about selling the car (would have to be a first time SAAB owner who doesn’t know the pleasure of driving a SAAB), or trading it in for another…
So instead of trying to diagnose my problem, I’d like reverse the method….
SO BACK TO THE QUESTION:
Can anyone tell me what makes the SAAB steering so unique? What is it that creates that tight responsiveness that we all love so much?
Thank you,
Robert in NYC
