'01 SE 5spd 70k:
Been working on a P0101 (MAF sensor) CEL is on.
Inspection runs out (New York state).
Buy an Actron (the $149 version) code reader.
Clean MAF, TB, BPV.
Clear the code but see EVAP is "not ready". CEL stays off.
Make appointment and CEL comes on while on the way to shop.
Clear it but don't check "readiness" codes.
Flunk inspection ($21) because of 3 "not ready" codes, CEL off.
Go to Saab and learn about "readiness" codes. They are there so you don't clear the CEL just around the corner... like I did.
Drive around for a day and watch the "ready" codes turn ready. CEL off.
Go back to shop with no CEL and only one ready code (catylytic conv.).
You're allowed one so I get the sticker (another $11).
The moral of the story: The Actron was helpful and make sure you understand about the "readiness codes" if you're in a state like NY.
