When I did my rear brakes, I did not replace the pins used to hold the pads on. The pins go through the pads and the pads slide in and out against the rotor. If the pins are rusted at all, the pads can catch or sieze on them.
When I ordered my parts from Eeuroparts.com, they suggested that I didn't need the pins but I really did. I got a set (I think they call it a rear brake kit) and put them in and made sure to use anti-sieze on them and it's been fine for over a year now. Email me if you have a more detailed question.
