It might be a chance that UK still uses the T5 fuel injection system even after 1999. It have happened before that different countries have different specs for their cars.

Here in US all 2000 (99 Viggen) and up Saabs uses the T7 Trionic system with the black IDM (yes, DI and the "other word" is not used anymore), IDM= Ignition Discharge Module.

If your car have the T7 system I suggest to get a black IDM installed, some people say that red works on black but I have only tried ones with really bad results and haven't dared to try after that.

The black IDM though can be used on the older red systems.
