To answer question #1...yes I wish there was a better solution for the size of the outlet off the dawes. The problem is finding a better solution that is larger and doesn't interfere with the internal spring and how it sits on the outlet side of things. If the outlet was larger it would disrupt the spring seat and cause other problems. I have tried a few things without luck so have resorted to keeping with the elbow that fits and finding other solutions to deal with it. I have made a bunch of these Dawes style "Granger Valves" and dealt with the smaller outlet by either swapping out the WGA hose to a smaller one, or using the Anticipator setup to deal with the size difference. Being that one can put a small hose to the first "Y" connector on the MBC+A setup, you can deal with the smaller size easily that way as you can still go 1/4 ID to the WGA.
The high pitched wheeze or fart as you have called it is probably the stock BPV hooting as it can't handle the increase boost pressure. The diaphragm is either ripped or the spring just can't keep up. The best solution is to either upgrade to the Viggen BPV which can hold up to 20psi of boost or go aftermarket to a Forge or Hyperboost Metal piston style BPV. That will stop the honking, tooting, farting or whatever you call it.
No on 3. Stock Boost gauge is too unreliable to corrulate boost pressure. It is an electronic signal as opposed to true boost pressure so an aftermarket Boost gauge might give you a closer indication of psi.
So the fun begins with MBC's, are you ready for the +A yet?
