What's really covered under warranty? (long-ish)

So I dropped my 2000 9-3 off at the dealer this morning for them to look at several items which I thought were warranty things:
- broken heater control
- an oil leak somewhere around the turbo
- suspension clunking/popping from both front and back
- creaking from headliner immediately behind driver (the styrofoam block issue?)
- rattling sunroof
- delaminated hood emblem
- and I wanted their opinion on the sludge that I found recently when I had the valve cover off (see thread below about that)
To my surprise, the only things they thought were warranty items were the heater controls and the oil leak by the turbo... They won't look at anything related to noises, rattles, etc, the suspension clunking/popping is considered to be related to wear items, and he laughed when I asked about the hood emblem. He explained that the sludge issue is a problem with Saabs because their oil change interval is longer than normal. Duh.
Having recently moved, this is my first experience with this dealership (Team Chevrolet [& Saab] in Marin) but it sure seems different than the service we got at Concours Motors in Milwaukee before we left.
So what's the deal? Are they right in being so restrictive about what's covered, or am I right in expecting a little more service out of them?
thanks.
