Get under the car, or pay someone else to put it on a lift... oil leaks will point to trouble areas... besides that, the timing chain tensioner is probably the most neglected inspection point on the car. It is designed to be removed and measured for a reason.
This is my 100k list, so far the only area I have not found some issue with is the engine mounts...
Rear brake calipers rebuild/replace if rusting (done one)
Valve cover gasket and cam end plug (both)
All vacuum hoses (some for second time)
PCV valve, nipple, grommet
Idler and tensioner pulleys and belt (idler and belt second time, tensioner first time)
Alternator (replaced)
BPC valve and turbo bypass valve (clean)
Evap emissions purge valve and hoses (purge valve and one hose need replacing)
Turbo hoses, inspect for cracks (found cracks)
Battery cable corrosion at battery, alternator and starter (one end corroded)
Thermostat & temp sensor (replaced)
Main engine seals inspect both front and back seals for leaks (one leaking)
Manual transmission oil (drain/flush/refill)
Engine mounts (ok so far)
Timing chain tensioner, (found excessive timing chain slack)
Power steering lines, inspect cooling line at bumper for rust, rest for leaks (rust, leaks found)
A/C leaks (found wear in the lines at subframe front cross-member)
Balljoints, tierods and sway links, look for ripped rubber boots and grease coming out (one bad boot found, replaced)
