The transmission will never be the jewel of these cars, but new trans oil will help a great deal. Some have reported good luck with Redline, but the MTF0063 performed as advertised for me.
It took my third gear from notchy to smooth and fast. Helped the shifter feel with a cold engine and transmission in the mornings too. HTH
