I have a 98 900S with 220K and it runs like a champ. Everything about the car is solid and I feel I will get another 100K on it without much problem. I do drive a lot of highway though and the car usually sits around 3200 RPM’s for hours. All I really do is change the oil regularly and give it a full tune-up one a year.
As long as you don’t beat on it and keep up with the service (mainly oil changes) there is no reason the car should not last many more miles however it does take diligence and things will wear our such as control arms ball joints, suspension components, brakes, exhaust etc. All normal wearing parts. As for the engine and tyranny they are pretty solid overall but you need to pay attention to them and address problems as they arise. Short distance/city driving is pretty bad for any vehicle whether it be a Saab or a Toyota.
If your not mechanically inclined, keeping a Saab (or any car for that matter) for a long time can become an expensive proposition, so unless you have the funds or the wherewithal to lean how to maintain it yourself you may be better off selling it.
