Once and for all...I want the answer

I really really want to press the unlock button just once to open all doors.
Last time I took my car in, the dealer programmed single-press-open-all only from the remote. And, when I asked to do also from the center console, the mechanic said can't do it. However, I read a couple days ago a post from a '99 9-3 owner (I think it was by Brian S but not sure), which pretty clearly said his car was programmed to open with just single press both from the console and remote. He also mentioned auto unlock function when key is removed opens all doors. Right now my auto unlock opens just the driver's door just like pressing the unlock button once from the console.
The confusion arises because I don't know who to believe. Could the poster have described incorrectly or the mechanic at North Shore Saab (BTW, he happens to be one of the four champions at the Saab Master Tech competition a couple years ago) just cannot find the option that is hidden somehow?
Does anyone else have this one press open all thing programmed? I'm really tired of having to press twice and getting mangled with the passengers trying to pull the door handle at the same time. Thanks!
