The 1999's have a known problem with the the head bolts not been tight.
Often a re-torque of the head bolts will stop the leak. This needs to be done on a cold engine. So the vehicle needs to sit proir to the work if you take it to a mechanic to do.
Many have also done the job DIY. You would need a torque wrench, T30 and T40 bits, a new valve cover gasket and an external torx E-16 socket for the head bolts. So if you or a DIY type friend are up to it, we can supply the torque data that you will need.
You can get the service history of all dealer performed service from the dealer via the VIN. If the head bolts were corrected in the past, go straight to the head gasket, otherwise, try the re-torque.
You can see external HG leaks on the engine. If an internal leak, there will be coolant in the oil. Has that been stated?
