I finally received the new APR I had been waiting for for the last 3-4 weeks and was able to start some testing on it over the weekend. I had gone through a local place to have them order it from Norgren whci proved to be a bad choice as they charged me almost $10 for their shipping and handling fees. I have placed an order with Norgren for the second batch to see if their cost are less.

The reason for the delay is that Norgren builds these APRs to order and the non-relieving models aren't readily available, so turn around time is typically three weeks on them.

I first stuck it in the kitchen oven per Dean's suggestion for 2 hours to see how it would fare in the heat. It did well. The bonnett remained pretty cool as I could handle it and make adjustments even when it just came out of the oven. So heat doesn't seem to be an issue.

Overall quality looks good, better than the one I have been using from Harbor Freight, although that one has not been problematic at all since I have done the modifications on it. The Norgren Diaphragm is reinforced bya plastic gasket and seems like a better quality piece of rubber than the Harbor Freight one. The internal mechanism is slightly different in the norgren and makes for more sensitive adjustments at the bonnett. The 0-10 psi spring that it came with worked well in the car making for adjustments that were sensitive enough to the needs of the Anticipator setup. The most noticable difference between the two APR's is the locking mechanism on the bonnett of the norgren really snaps closed. There there is no movement possible when you lock it down. The harbor Freight APR is much easier to lock and unlock and always had concerned a little as to the vibration of the engine opening it up and changing the setting. The last thing I likeabout the norgren is the inlets and outlets. The norgren uses 1/4 inlet and outlet where as the Harbor Freight one uses 1/4" inlet and a compression fitting on the outlet that is 1/8th" to 1/4" enlarger.

For folks looking for a good quality APR that needs no modification, this one seems to pass the test and do the job.
I've ordered a bunch to have on hand, but anyone can set up a small account at http://www.norgren.com and order through them directly.

Should have a few in about 2 1/2 weeks or so.
