more than anything. Lightening Blue was only available in 1999 and 2000. Yellow in 2000/2001. Gray, Silver, Black 00-02 and Red 01-02. You can get a coupe from 99-02 (more rare in 01/02), a 5-Door and CV only from 00-02.
2001 and 2002 had traction control and sinlge key unit. At the end of the day any year is good. I have a 1999 blue coupe and I haven't had any issues even with the first year run. Always better to buy newer I suppose. Most important factor in buying a Viggen is finding on that hasn't been abused or heavily modified (outside of someone you know or perhaps a Saabnet member).
Just be sure to do your due diligence. Personally I would rather buy one from the owner (if they care for the car) than to buy on off a used car lot. Only exception would be a Saab dealer either as a CPO or they knew the owner and the car had a good story. Thats being picky of course.
