I have an '01 Viggen Convertible. Just got my top slashed, so I thought i could at least provide input on the cost of replacement. In total, top and headliner was $2,300 to replace. I think the liner was $700 or so, so the top itself would be $1,600. This is not OEM, but actually has a better warranty, and the shop swore it was just as good. They were willing to do either, and were recommended by the dealer.

What do you mean by fray? I think there are some thick layers, so curious how it runs through the fabric. You may go to an upholstery shop and ask them how this would wear, as well as the ability to put something that helps the fray from extending -- maybe some sort of spray glue that binds the fray. Don't know.

Comments on the car:

Decent amount of cowl shake. Doesn't bother me, but serious car afficiandos might be bothered.

Great Highway car. Not so great off the line, but moving acceleration is AWESOME.

I find the interior to be pretty quiet with the top up. Make sure you get a windscreen if you buy this thing. Makes driving comfortable to the 40's, and really cuts down on buffeting in nice weather. I can't even begin to describe the difference in comfort when you have this -- MUST HAVE. $400 cost.

Car interior width sucks. Get in with an adult and try to buckle your seatbelts at the same time. It's impossible. The car is tight from side-to-side.

Fit and finish is generally very good, but like all saabs you can get these mysterious rattles that you can't find or get rid of.

Cup holder is a piece of ...

No real issues on the car. Top has required fluid top off for the pump, but not really a big deal. No other failures on the top, and operation is very reliable.

3 years and 60K miles. Other than having fluid for pump filled (once,) no other issues other than those that were self-inflicted.
