It will be about another month before I'm ready to change to summer treads. I've had his same problem on my '99 9-3. I used a SMALL amount of high-temp bicycle lube on the wheels last winter; hopefully that will help prevent the corrosion. I think your idea will work. I'm assuming you're draining on the inside of the wheel and not on the outside? My concern is that the water only forms there after the car is parked, since it's likely ice or slush when inside the wheels and you're outdoors. I seldom see water on my wheels in the winter even after stop & go traffic with heated brakes. Only does the stuff melt when parked in the garage. So sans the centripetal force, will hydrostatic presssure alone be enough to force the liquid out? Keep us informed.
