Just thought I would share -- data is one week old as my posting and reading of Saabnet is down greatly due to the new job -- I am swamped!
Well - I made it to NJ! Long trip -- did the first stretch at 1000 miles from Dallas to Virginia border and then the 550 the next day. I drove the whole state of Tennesee (West to East) in the pouring rain with the exception of a break in the Smokey Mtns that made it all worth it. The new Pirelli PZero Nero M&S allowed me to keep at around 80-85 in the pouring rain with ease -- the tires worked very well and handled like a dream. I continue to highly recommend these tires.
Trip notes...
Car: 99 Viggen with 42K miles (now 44K)
Total Miles: 1550 miles -- Dallas to NJ
Avg Speed: 74 MPH
Avg MPG: 30.1 (WOW)
This is the absolute best MPG I have ever gotten in this car. In a similar cross country 1000 mile trip with bent rims, OEM air filter, crappy Dunlops and 30K change crappy Saab spark plugs I only got 26.3 MPG at an avg speed closer to 78.
I did just add the following:
Platinum NGK Sprak Plugs
J/R Sport Filter
New Tires and rims (none bent yet, but close)
So the ride was smooth quiet and fuel efficent. Not sure all that added to 3.5 MPG more, but I am sure it helped!
Other odd fact -- did not see my first Saab until 495 outside DC - a nice SPG and then a 900 CV. I certainly see many more driving around NJ than Dallas.
Now that I am in NJ I guess I am no longer "Misplaced";)
