Im sure you know that the the E-brake is a seperate drum that runs on the inside of the rotor.
I just changed all of my e-brake shoes on my 96 900 set. My driver wheel was locked up, but when I bought the shoes it came with 4 shoes so i just did them both.
I have some pictures if you need. Its a fairly simple procedure, the biggest pain was getting the rear rotors off because the shoes had a very nasty grip on them. I used two large screwdrivers to pry off the rotor, I was changing them afterwards for cross-drilled so if you want to spare the rotors that might not be the best way. Take apart the entire E-brake and make sure to pull out the part right behind the caliper where the cable is held and clean everything with a wirebrush. Re-assemble and adjust the shoes after a few stops to get them holding fast when you pull the hand lever.
What ever you do, dont spray WD-40 or Liquid Wrench in there because it empregnates all brakes - rear shoes and e-brake shoes.
The new shoes were $40 at Robbins, I lucked out and they had them in stock.
