thanks for the ideas, m.p.! I read all your posts about 2 months ago.
I do get oil down on the plug wires and in the wells, from the cover gasket, and I'll take care of that tomorrow, even tho for the life of me I cannot understand how oil around a plug connection can mess up the spark. It's a great insulator right? that's why transformers are full of oil? nor can I see how it can seep down thru the tightly torqued plug threads and foul the gap. but I'll definitely do it, clear and reseal it all.
I did see some posts here where v6's seemed to have c.p.s. issues, so I went ahead and bought the part for tomorrow.
Other things happening... 147k miles on it now. oil is 3000 mile old dino, new fuel pump 3000 miles ago, new plugs same time. so I'll check the fuel pressure at my schrader valve. I'll use a timing light and see if I'm getting any spark.
one post from Dean made it sound like there was a throttle position sensor on this car, but a diff v6 post said there was no throttle position sensor.
any other ideas I will jam on them too, I just wanted to get any parts ordered today so I can do the wk tomorrow.
cheers,
