v6 147k miles. Here's a car talk puzzler...
3000 miles ago, it had fuel pump, plugs, and oil change.
5 days ago, after no probs on first half tank gas, it sputtered during my 50 mile trip to work, just a bit, so I put some techron in, drove 50 miles home, sputtered more, put another half tank gas in, CEL comes on then, I drove 1 mile, sputtering even more, can't go faster than 5mph. parked overnight, drove home 5 miles the next day, slightly sputtering, never needed go over 30mph. I read saabnet, decided might be Crank position Sensor, bought one, put it on last night. still idled rough, was getting backfire thru breather, took breather intakes and AMM off, cleaned it out with B-12 (one backfire actually blew off a vaccuum hose so I put it back on, but alas it was not the problem).
So it runs about the same today, with clearer symptoms: runs ok, not great accelleration. Then after a few minutes if I get going over 35, then I have only about 30 seconds, then it starts the sputtering thing. Then the CEL comes on. I have to stop, turn the car off, wait 1 minute, then start over. Then I'm ok until up to 35mph. same cycle again.
I'm starting to think I have a bad brand new fuel pump? I have pressure at the rail schrader valve, used my tire guage said it's 15 psi. Any ideas appreciated. cheers,
