A/C Pressure... too low?

I know the dean ideal is to keep your a/c around 32/33 psi with the compressor engaged. I'm not sure if the cycle of my readings makes sense so here is whats happened from my end:
For one, it was about 90 degrees when I tried to charge my a/c. With the compressor disengaged, the pressure would build pretty quickly to around 40-45 psi. When the compressor would kick in, it would begin falling at a uniform rate down to about 22-25 psi. I assumed the 22-25 psi was what need to be raised to 32-33 so I began charging.
After probably ten cycles of the compressor, the pressure when it was disengaged would build to nearly 50 psi and then begin falling when the compressor engaging stopping at its low point around 34-35 psi.
If my a/c blew icy after this, I would assume I had done everything more or less right. Using a thermometer to check the output at the vents, I was looking at between 60 and 70 degrees (which feels pretty cool when its 90-95 out but certainly not icy). Do I have to charge it higher because the outside temp is in the 90's? Do the cycle numbers look right (50 psi cycles down to 34-35 psi)?
Any guesses would be much appreciated!
