I have just aquired a 2001 9-3 SE 5 door, and saab roof bars. I put foam blocks on the bars and held my 17' kayak on the rack with ratchet straps. In the front I ran two lines under the bumper, into the lower side grills (by the fog lamp) and out the center. In the back I closed the hatch on a line at tail light level. This seemed to work OK but was a bit loose side to side at the front. Has anyone else thought of a better arrangement? Has anyone used the Tule or Saab kayak racks on such a long boat? Is there anything more beautiful then a nice boat on a nice car? 2 boats. Thats an SUV.
