Just let it smoke till it breaks?

As you may recall, my 2000 9-3 base model w/60,000 miles has blue smoke on startup.
The dealer has looked at it repeatedly and can't find a problem and just says it "drives and runs as designed". At least that's an improvement from "normal".
From my research here, I am of the opinion that something is indeed wrong. It's either the turbo seal or some issue with the crankcase ventilation system (I have the "breather kit" and it has not been removed). The dealer says he has looked at both and sees no problems. Nor does he see any other problem that would cause smoke, and believe me he has looked.
I don't burn any measureable amount of oil between 5k oil changes w/Mobil 1 0W-40. There is, however, a large and embarrassing cloud of blue smoke on cold startup.
Here's my question. What happens if it IS the turbo or crankcase ventilation system and I don't do anything? Will something eventually just fail and then I can fix it knowing I'm fixing the correct item? I really don't want to drop $1,000 on a new turbo and still have blue smoke.
THanks
