Unhooking the CD changer power cable

I'm trying to unhook the power cable that leads into the Clarion CD changer in the trunk of my 96 900SE. I've slipped down the rubber cover, and I can see there's a ring sort of inside. But I can't tell when I turn it if it's unthreading or simply sliding in place.
Can anyone help me? I know there's a simple solution. Thanks!
