I need some help with some electrical problems I'm having that may or may not be related to each other. Car is a 1994 900s. A few weeks ago the radio (non-Saab) quit working along with the central locks. Fuses were checked and all seems OK.
Since I purchased the car I've also noticed an occasional "bzrrp" sound coming from the firewall area of the car. This sound has gradually become more frequent and happens most often under braking. The brake pedal sometimes vibrates when the car makes this sound so I drew out the fuse for the ABS system. This eliminates the noise so I wonder if it could be the sensors or a bad contact that is making the Abs pump come on temporarily.
Now to the most annoying problem, the instrument panel. Two weeks ago the SRS light started blinking and the instrument panel shut down, except for the SRS light. Occasionally the panel comes to life and works fine for a while only to shut down later. SID works fine and says "check OK" every time I start the car. ABS and check engine light have never come on. Hitting the top of the dash has no effect on the panel so I don't think it's just a loose connection. I actually suspect the ignition switch but I don't just want to start replacing parts in the hopes that the problem will be solved, could get expensive. Could a faulty ignition switch have anything to do with the other problem I'm experiencing?
Any help the good people on this forum could give would be greatly appreciated!
