This is a job for, ta-da, Swedecar! I did as much as I could myself using WIS procedures before asking for help. Thanks in advance if you have time.
Car would not start after sitting for ten minutes after a 35 mile drive. She ran for about a second the first time and then would not start again. Fuel tank is 3/4 full. Car also would not start when cold later Saturday night and Sunday and today. Engine cranks but will not start. Battery fully charged - checked with digital multimeter. Also checked for OBD codes with my scanner even though nothing showing on dash. No codes revealed.
Did all of the tests that I could do before buying a new DIC (IDM). Car still does not start with brand new DIC. $350 gone. I am assuming the new DIC is good. I don't have the tool to check.
Tested: fuses 28, 17, 32, 16B and maxi fuse 2; CEL stays on when key is "on" Fuel level full - just filled her. Main relay tests ok. CPS tests ok. I could not hear the fuel pump working - nor could my girlfriend. That doesn't mean it wasn't working. Of course, starting requires fuel, air and spark. Spark now assumed to be good and air assumed to be good. Power is reaching all injectors. I don't have any way of testing fuel pressure.
Next steps are to track down the electrical system for the fuel pump and troubleshoot. Hoping for a bad relay. The fuel pump did not have any of the classic fuel pump going bad problems. What I wouldn't give for my old '86 right now with its easy fuel pump access!
Thanks for help!!!
