Mine is a dog. But it's a good car. I miss the character and tightness of my C900, but I like the quiet, smooth refinement of the NG900.

I would look for a 1997 or 1998. By that time Saab had worked out most of the bugs. A 1997.5-1998 5-speed will have a hydraulic clutch, solving the problem of the "break every 20K" clutch cable. Beware some early 1997's still had cable clutches.
Earlier models had probems with front suspension setup and shift linkage, which were corrected by 1997.

Make sure you have good oil change records. The NG900's have sludging problems that lead to engine self-destruct. Sludging seems to be related to lack of proper oil change intervals.
I would avoid the V6 unless you have strict service records for the timing belt and tensioner.

If you find one, the first thing you should do is replace the idler pulleys on the serpentine belt. They are a chronic problem and will need replacement every 30-60K. On Ebay you can buy a billet aluminum tensioner pulley from Wazee Pulleys for $40 that will be the last one you ever need. Lookup Short Belt Mod on this site for how to delete one of the two problematic pulleys (then replace the other with the aluminum one and you're good to go).
