A/C question, while we're on that topic Posted by Peter [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Interesting point made below about A/C compressors starting to show their age in these cars.
Mine (97 900set, 81k miles) has just started to make a "graunching" or "grumbling" noise occasionally as it cycles on and off (especially noticeable when I set the ACC to something close to the outside air temp. For instance, it was about 75 today, but the humidity was extremely high, so I set the ACC to 72, and the sensors had their work cut out for them.)
So, the Q: Is the noise indicative of bad bearings in the belt pulley? Or, is there some other cause that anyone else has found, possibly something internal in the compressor?
I know nothing about Saab A/C; the c900's I owned never had working A/C. And it wasn't too important, b/c the A/C wasn't integral to the HVAC system like it is in newer cars.
Thanks
Peter
