Replaced rear calipers, can't get air out

I just replaced both rear calipers on my 1999 9-3 with rebuilts by Centric from eeuroparts. Have bled nearly a quart of fluid through them and there's still air in the system. I'm assuming the air is in the outboard cylinder since the inboard side seems to be a straight shot, with the brake line coming in the bottom and the bleeder at the top.
I've done plenty of brake work over the last 25 years but don't remember ever having this much trouble. Doing it the two person way with my wife at the pedal and me at the bleeder. They pump up with two or three strokes but the first time you hit them it's pretty scary.
I guess I'll bleed the fronts to see what that does although I don't think that I let the reservoir get low enough to let air into the system.
Slightly humorous note - the new bleeder screw of one of the rebuilt calipers never passed fluid when unscrewed. The fluid just leaked around the threads. I pulled it out and it had never been drilled on the side to let it pass fluid. I hope the calipers were rebuilt right to get the air out of both sides. I called eeuroparts to ask if they have had problems with the Centric calipers and was told no specific problems but it's possible to have problems with any rebuilt part.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
