Easy to figure out. Assuming you tighten your gas cap at least 3 clicks as recommended, do this experiment: keep your gas tank above ~3/4 full. If the light goes away after a while and doesn't come back until your gas tank is below 1/4 tank, you have the same problem as I do, which I have not been able to solve yet...
Apparently, the EVAP system suck on the gas tank when you idle every 15 seconds (? something like that). And if it doesn't not get a vacuum, it will give you your CEL (P0442). Eventually, you may get a P0445 (gross EVAP system leak). Things that people will have you try is to check the gas cap ($25-30 at dealership, or ~$15 on Ebay...hey, I'll sell you my new OEM one...only used for a few weeks...never dropped), then check the vacuum lines for splits and cracks. Then some valves and cannister... Unfortunately, this seems to be the only solution...(change something and hope it goes away...)
I get the P0445 almost constantly now, but my fuel economy and power doesn't seem to be worst, so I'm leaving it alone until I change my fuel pump later this year....
