Was due to leaky check valves. If I were you, I'd try the rubber trick. Haha that sounds naughty given the context of our subject lines, but you can fix the check valves for free using rubber, like from a glove.
Basically it involves replacing the worn out internal gasket thats causing the leaky valve. Simply use a knife to gently pry open the valve, remove the gasket (which may or may not have turned to mush) and snap the valve closed over a piece of latex, like a glove. Don't lose the spring or cylinder thats inside. Then just trim the excess material and pop the valves back in.
This fix will make the valves "last longer" (had to say it) than a new one would.
