I'm doing my first DIY idler pulley change this weekend on my 2000 base model 9-3 (65k miles). I've read the posts and think I have the general process down. But I have two questions of those who have done it before.

1. Most people's posts don't mention torque specs on the idler bolt. Do I just use blue loctite and hand tighten to whatever seems reasonable to me. One person said torque to 18 lb-ft, but I haven't seen anyone confirm. I'm thinking it's like a battery connection - yeah there's probably a torque spec somewhere, but just tighten it and I'll be fine.

2. I'm not planning on totally removing the belt. How do most people hold the belt in place everywhere but on the idler pulley? My theory is that I can put c-clamps on the next two pulleys, but I don't know if I can reach them and I don't have c-clamps and I'm wondering if there is an easier way.
