Please post what enine oil has been used and how long you have owned the vehicle.
Techron Concentrate will clean the injectors and remove much of the combustion chamber deposits. I assume that this is a non turbo engine. If so, the compression ratio is high and combustion chamber deposits can effect the effective octane and lead to detuning of the ignition. This 'aquired octane demand' can can be reduced by removal of the deposits that create hot spots and by restoring injector spray patterns.
If never used before, get the 20 ounce bottle. Make sure that it is the 'concentrate' product, as there are other similar 'Techron' products that can be confusing and not as effective. I suggest using the small bottle of TC thereafter, every 8K(miles) or 3x/year.
You might need to remove the valve cover and inspect for sludge and deposits. If heavy, swithing to synthetic or using some chemical cleaners, can release globs and chunks that will block the oil pump intake screen and that does destroy the engine. One can fish through the drain hole in the oil sump with a thin bent wire to search for bits of steel and other crud to see what the state of things is. The non turbo engine seems to be more vulnerable to these problems. The high compression ratio may place more oxidative stress on the oil, but many of use believe that the many non-turbo owners are not very mindful of what oil they use or the need for oil changes and more frequent oil changes when driving conditions require.
