The 3 wire sensors used the exhaust system for a the sensor signal ground. Resistance in the sensor to down pipe threaded contact or the downpipe to turbo, or turbo to manifold and manifold to block can create a code for the sensor(s), even though the sensor is in good running order. Check resistance from sensor body to a good known ground. If resistive, brighten metal as required to get good probe contacts and chase down location(s) of resistance and reseat things as required. If the resistance is in the sensor to DP contact, when someone installs a new sensor, that fixes the resistance issue and the old good sensor goes in the tra$h.
If you have 4 wire sensors, you do not need to do the above. Connectors are back above the thermostat, where the upper rad hose goes.
So check resistance before you do anything else, unless you have 4 wire sensors.
Code P0135 is for a heater current that is too low or too high. Check the connector contacts for mechanical condition or contamination. Check for open circuit on the heater. Resistance should be around 2 to 4 ohms. The heater wires are the thicker wires, pins 1&2.
There are two sensors for 1996+ and one prior.
